The short version
WAF Basketball Analytics (wafbasketballanalytics.com) is a free basketball analytics site. We don't sell data, we don't run ads, and coaching reports you build stay in your own browser unless you choose to share them.
Coach's Report and your stat files
Reports, imported stats, notes, film tags and chat history are saved in your browser's local storage, not on our servers. Video you load in the Film Room plays from your device and is never uploaded. If you use the AI file reader (PDFs, photos, Word files), the AI assistant coach, or online scouting, the file or the report summary needed to answer is sent to our server and to Anthropic's Claude API to produce the answer. We don't store it, and Anthropic does not use API data to train its models. If you use the AI review of a YouTube game, the YouTube link (and the team names and jersey colors you enter) is sent to Google's Gemini API, which watches the public video on YouTube's side; WAF never plays, downloads or stores the video.
WAF Coach Assistant (ChatGPT plugin)
The WAF Coach Assistant plugin runs inside ChatGPT and is covered by OpenAI's privacy policy. When it looks up college teams, games or play-by-play, it calls our public college-data API with only the team id, season or game id it needs. Those requests carry no personal information, and we don't receive your conversations or the files you upload to ChatGPT.
Accounts (Wall Street game)
If you sign in to play the Wall Street play-money market, we store your sign-in email, a display name, and your play-money balances and trades with our database provider (Supabase) so the game works. No real money is involved. Email us to delete your account and its data.
Analytics and logs
We use Vercel Analytics for anonymous page-view counts (no cookies, no cross-site tracking). Our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs, including IP addresses, which we also use briefly to enforce daily limits on the AI features.
Data sources
Player, team and game data comes from public sports feeds (including ESPN's public game data). We link back to articles rather than republishing them.
Children
The site is for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their personal information.
